Don’t Miss These Great Fall Events Near Hammock Bay!

While Florida might be known for its “endless summer”, there are plenty of fall events coming up that will be sure to put you in the Autumn mood. Grab a friend, your family or go solo but get out and explore what this wonderful area has to offer this time of year!

 

Walton County Fair

October 3 – 8th – Walton County Fair

Hands holding a bunny.Since 1924, the Walton County Fair located in DeFuniak Springs, has been providing a week of fun for the family. Most fairs have moved away from the agricultural aspect to games and rides but the Walton County Fair has continued to promote the importance of agriculture. In addition to the array of colored lights and sounds of carnival rides, the fair is also a time for youth and adults to showcase their hard work through livestock competitions which include poultry, rabbit, swine, horse, cattle, lamb and goats. They also showcase exhibits for artwork, handicrafts and crop production. Each day will offer something different so be sure to check the schedule for times, pricing and location.

 

 

 

 

Biophilia @ Night

October 8th – Biophilia @ Night

s'moresThe E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center will be hosting “Biophilia @ Night” which will include a guided sensory night hike, meet & greet with nocturnal animals, star gazing session, and a bonfire with s’mores. Please note, this is a free event only available for members. If you are not a Biophilia Center member, you can become one HERE or join the night of the event.

The Biophilia Center is located just minutes from Hammock Bay and provides students from 5 local school districts the opportunity to learn about environmental science. When you become a Bio-Member you are contributing to the education of the next generation. Membership dues allow the center to educate students and continue to train the instructors. Since the center is a non-profit, your membership is tax deductible!

 

 

 

 

Hammock Bay Fall Festival

October 9th- Hammock Bay Fall Festival

A group of pumpkins after being picked.If you want to stay close to home, Hammock Bay will be having its very own Fall Festival on Sunday, October 9th at 4:30 pm at the Lake Club. The festival will include pumpkin painting, games for the kids, finger food and even a soup and chili cook off with prizes for the top 3 contestants! The deadline to enter the cook off is October 1st, so be sure to sign up on the home owner’s website if you would like to participate. If soup or chili are not your forte, please bring an appetizer, dessert or drink to share and enjoy an evening with your neighbors.

 

 

 

 

Cypress Cattle and Produce Farm

Now till October 31st – Cypress Cattle and Produce Farm

Take a trip out to Cypress Cattle and Produce Farm this fall for an assortment of activities! With over 2 miles of paths spread out over 6 acres, the corn maze will surely put your navigation skills to the test! In addition to the corn maze, Cypress Cattle and Produce Farm offers a U-pick pumpkin patch with every size pumpkin from mini pumpkins to 40 pounders. They also have a farm animal petting zoo, tractor-pulled tour, mini-maze, hayride, bounce houses and concessions.

If you are looking for a thrill, mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22nd when Cypress Cattle and Produce Farm will be hosting their Halloween Bash haunted corn maze! If the maze doesn’t scare you away, stay and enjoy live music by Luke Langford and the 331 South Band from 6 – 10 pm.

The Farm will be open now through October 31st:
Fridays from 4 – 8 pm
Saturdays 10 am – 8 pm
Sundays from 10 am – 4 pm
